Gyn Cancer Sharing and Caring header

  • Our main purpose is to provide practical and useful information and tips to help the cancer patient, the caregiver, and family and friends, so that you can get through, what lies ahead.

  • We tell it like it is, sometimes with humor, and sometimes we tell it very candidly.

  • This website is a work in progress. We encourage you to submit helpful tips and hints to help the gynecologic cancer patient get through surgery and her treatments.

  • All funding for this website is out of pocket by the main author and web developer.

"You have cancer."

When you hear the words, “you have cancer,” it is only natural that you are stunned, frightened, sad, angry, depressed, or confused. Or, all the above. You may be in denial, you may think it is a bad dream, and you may not be able to think straight. That’s OK and are normal responses. Whatever feelings you may have are just part of the process. It is the process of taking in all the information and trying to assemble it in some meaningful way, so that it makes sense to you.

We all have our own ways of dealing with these three words. Whatever ways you find, so that you can cope with what lies ahead, always know that you are not alone in the process. No matter if it is your medical team, (oncologists, surgeons, ob/gyn’s, nurses, Fellows, residents, PA’s, NP’s, and staff), loved ones, family, or friends, they can be of great support to you. teal gynecologic cancer ribbon

Loved ones, family, and friends may not know how to help you or know what to do to help you, as they may also be experiencing feelings that are confusing or complicated. It is OK for you to ask for help, and it is OK for you to instruct them how to help you.

How we can help you get through what lies ahead.

We are a group of gynecologic cancer survivors, caregivers, and friends. We want to help you get through, what may be one of the hardest times in your life, which is dealing with gynecologic cancer.

We will focus, through this website, on providing practical tips for dealing with gynecologic cancers. Granted, most of these tips can be used to help support other cancer patients, which is fine. Our scope will be targeted on gynecologic cancers, so that you can get the most out of these practical tips.

Continue Gynecologic Cancer Awareness throughout the year.

The month of September was Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. Lets continue to bring Gynecologic Cancer Awareness to the forefront every month of the year.

Check out our books section.

We have added new books on surviving, what foods to fix in the kitchen,14 SuperFoods, and what to be aware of, when purchasing foods.

Are you aware of what is going on in your body? If you are experiencing any unusual symptoms in your abdomen or reproductive regions, and have been noticing problems that have gone on for two or more weeks, it might be best to visit your general practitioner, or better yet, an ob/gyn. Please see our two pages on Gyn Cancer Types, which also lists signs and symptoms.

Please keep in mind, we are former and current gynecologic cancer patients, caregivers, and friends. We are not doctors or nurses, nor do we claim to be. It is our sole mission to help you, as a gynecologic cancer patient, to get through what lies ahead.
